f_5500_2024_latest.zip and Form 5500 Dataset Downloads

Looking for f_5500_2024_latest.zip, f_5500_2023_latest.csv, or a Schedule H extract? The raw files are published by the U.S. Department of Labor, and the same data is browsable here, parsed, linked, and searchable by sponsor, EIN, and state.

Official raw files (DOL)

Every f_5500_*_latest dataset, full-year ZIPs and CSVs plus all schedules, is published on the Department of Labor's dataset page:

DOL EBSA, Form 5500 Datasets (official download page)

Files are organized by plan year; "Latest" sets are refreshed periodically with new and amended filings, so byte-exact contents change between refreshes. We link the official page rather than deep file URLs because the DOL periodically reorganizes its file paths.

What each file contains

DatasetContents
f_5500_2024_latest (.zip / .csv.zip) All Form 5500 filings received for plan-year 2024 to date, the main filing table: sponsor, plan name, EIN, participants, assets. "Latest" = refreshed periodically with new and amended filings.
f_5500_2023_latest (.zip / .csv.zip) The complete 2023 plan-year filing set, including late and amended filings, the most recent substantially-complete year.
f_5500_sf_<year>_latest Short-form (5500-SF) filings from small plans (generally under 100 participants).
f_sch_h_<year>_latest Schedule H, financial statements for large plans: asset categories, income, expenses, fees.
f_sch_a / f_sch_c / f_sch_d … Insurance (A), service-provider fees (C), and pooled-fund (D) schedules keyed to the main filings by ACK_ID.

The raw ZIPs are position-keyed CSVs that need joining across schedules. PlainRetire ingests the official datasets and serves them as linked, browsable records - 122,942 plans:

  • Browse plans by sponsor, state, industry, or size, each plan page shows participants, assets, and filing history.
  • Search any sponsor or EIN directly from the homepage search.
  • states.csv - our state-level aggregate extract, free to download.
  • Methodology - exactly which DOL files and fields each figure comes from.
